Sheffield Wine Week 2025

Sheffield Wine Week returns to the Steel City from Wednesday 18 to Sunday 22 June 2025, transforming Sheffield into a wine lover’s paradise with tastings, pairings, and the inaugural Wine Week Fest at Bole Hills—the largest wine festival in Sheffield history—bringing together local venues, wine enthusiasts, and industry professionals for five days of grape-centered celebrations.

Wine Week Fest at Bole Hills
The highlight of Sheffield Wine Week 2025 is the Wine Week Fest at Bole Hills on Saturday 21 June from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, modeled after California outdoor wine fairs. This family-friendly festival offers attendees a complimentary Sheffield Wine Week premium plastic wine glass, a festival guide, and access to over a dozen pay-as-you-go wine and drink vendors including Ally Wines, Elm, English Wine Project, and Abbeydale Brewery for non-wine drinkers. Food options include The Taco Trailer, Cheese & Friends, Piper’s Sausages, and Fennall’s Ice Cream.

The festival combines wine tasting with entertainment, featuring live music, crafting, face-painting, and a bounce castle in one of Sheffield’s most scenic green spaces. Early bird tickets are available at £12 for the first 500 purchasers, with advance tickets later priced at £14-15 and day-of-event tickets at £16-20. Children are welcome, with free entry for under 8s and £4 tickets for ages 8-17. As Virginia Myers, co-founder of Sheffield Wine Week, explains: “The idea is to bring the wine industry and Sheffield’s wine lovers together for a relaxed day out… trying new things, learning a bit, eating well and enjoying the community in a beautiful outdoor spot.”

Wine and Crisps Pairing Events
One of the most anticipated highlights of Sheffield Wine Week 2025 is the Wine and Crisps Pairing event at The Old Shoe in Orchard Square, Sheffield City Centre. This uniquely playful tasting experience pairs five exciting wines across different styles with their perfect crisp counterparts, while breaking down the elements of food and wine pairing. The event, scheduled for Wednesday 18 June, has already sold out due to its immense popularity, demonstrating Sheffield’s growing enthusiasm for innovative wine experiences.

For visitors who missed out on The Old Shoe’s event, the Yorkshire Local Wine School offers similar wine and crisp pairing evenings in the region, including sessions at the Radisson Blu in Leeds. These events provide a casual and approachable entry point to wine appreciation, making Sheffield Wine Week accessible to both connoisseurs and curious newcomers alike. Staying at the centrally located Best Western Sheffield City Hotel puts guests within easy walking distance of The Old Shoe and other participating venues across the city centre.

Sheffield’s Growing Wine Scene
Sheffield Wine Week emerged from the city’s rapidly evolving wine culture, challenging Sheffield’s traditionally beer-focused reputation. Co-founders Mike Pomranz of The Old Shoe and Virginia Myers of Tenaya Wine launched the event in 2024 to “break through Sheffield’s traditionally beery veneer to help expose a vibrant vinous underbelly.” Their mission resonated with locals, with the inaugural event featuring over a dozen venues hosting more than 30 events across the city.

The 2025 celebration promises even greater participation, with returning venues like Bench/La Cave, Elm, Joro, and The Pangolin joined by newcomers including Barks Wine Shop, Bullion, The Crow, and Konjo. Events range from the opening night tasting at Sheffield Plate on June 18th (£30 per person for six wines with expert guidance) to Department’s special tasting with Berkmanns Wine Seller (£20). The week’s inclusive approach aims to make wine more accessible, as Pomranz explains: “Wine drinking is often mischaracterised as elitist or impenetrable. SWW wants to flip it on its head: Sure, ramp up the exploration, but at the same time, reduce the pretension.”
